Coral reefs are also known as ‘sea rainforests’. They cover less than 1% of the ocean, but are home to almost 25% of all known marine species! Corals are actually animals, not plants. Unfortunately, thanks to destructive fishing practices, coral mining and climate change, 25% of corals has been irretrievably destroyed.
