Unique design of NAYAVITA yoga mats

Forget about boring yoga exercise mats you see on every corner. Each NAYAVITA yoga mat is hand designs to be practical and functional, as well as eco friendly and uniquelly beautiful.

Ukai is a traditional Japanese method of fishing using a trained cormorant. The cormorant fishing season starts each year on 11. May and finishes on 15. October. The fisherman, called ushō, lights a fire, luring the delicious sweet fish to the surface, only for his trained helper to trap them in his beak. Cormorant training takes half a year, after the previous half year was spent getting him used to human presence.

Ushō sees their cormorant as part of the family, and back in the day they would spend the off-season together on the boat, staying close to food for the bird. Even though this tradition was replaced by feeding cormorants with frozen mackerels, the life of fishermen hasn’t become that much easier. From boat maintenance and equipment repair to sewing traditional costumes and caring for cormorants, the ushō profession remains a challenging choice.
